A one-year Foundation Course
Copenhagen University College of Engineering offers a one-year Foundation Course that bridges the gap between your entry qualifications and the first year in your engineering programme at Copenhagen University College of Engineering.
The Foundation Course is designed to prepare you for studies at university level and includes three compulsory subjects: English, Mathematics and Physics. Introduction to project based learning and Danish culture is part of the programme as well.

Qualifies for further studies
After successful completion of the Foundation Course, you are qualified for entry into the Bachelor of Engineering programmes at Copenhagen University College of Engineering.
Students who want to learn the Danish language may take
part in an extracurricular course in Danish. The foundation course
starts in Mid-August every year.

Entry-requirements
- English qualifications. Profiency level IELTS 5.5
- Completed secondary education
- Good grades in relevant subjects
- Maturity
- Potential for studying higher education
Obligatory book package
In order to fully benefit from the Foundation Course, students must buy a set of textbooks plus the required calculator.
The Copenhagen University College of Engineering (IHK) will help the student to buy the required books and calculator. The price of the book parcel is DKK 2,500
The student must transfer this amount to the IHK account – the account number is to be found in the letter of acceptance – as soon as the student receive the visa from the Danish authorities.
The amount must be transferred to the IHK account before the beginning of semester.
The student will receive the pre-paid book parcel on arrival at the
Copenhagen University College of Engineering.

Tuition fee
Tuition fee is waived for the Foundation Course. No further scholarships are available.
Residence permit in Denmark
Application through the Danish Embassy.
There is currently a requirement of a DKK 50,000 deposit that must be
deposited in Denmark before a residence permit can be granted.

Subjects
The Foundation Course consists of three compulsory courses: English (B-level Danish secondary School level), Physics (B-level Danish secondary school level) and Mathematics/Calculus (A-level Danish secondary school level).
Compulsory attendance
Students attending
Foundation Course are under an obligation to attend classes.
Any student absent for more than 15 % of the time in any subject may
be barred from the next ordinary exams as well as from re-examinations
in the subject in question. Absence is registered at the beginning of
lessons (in case of double lessons, at the beginning of the first) and
registration takes effect on the very first day.
The level of absence per student is assessed twice each semester. In
spring on 1 March and on 1 May and in the autumn on 1 October and
on the 1 December.
Students barred from exams because of a more than 15% level of absence
receive written notification of the exclusion.
Compulsory attendance also means that obligatory papers/reports must
be handed in and be approved within a time-limit set by the Head
of Department and the teachers.
Furthermore, students must sit Mock exams held 1-3 times during the
course in subjects concluding in written finals (mathematics A, physics
B and English B). Non-attendance may lead to exclusion from exams in
the subject in question.
Application
Applicants who are non-EU/EEA residents must send in two applications: one for the Foundation Course and one for the relevant BEng-programme.
Admittance to the Foundation Course is granted when the
admission committee considers that the applicant will be able to pursue
studies in the BEng-programme after successful participation in the
Foundation Course.
Applicants who are EU/EEA residents may apply for the Foundation
Course only.
