As of 1 August 2006 there is no tuition fee for students with an EU or EEC citizenship.

As of 1 July 2009 there is no tuition fee for students who are children of employees from non EU/EEC countries.

This means, that no tuition fee is required from children of international employees from non-EU/EEC countries, who are working in Denmark and who are granted residence permit based on their work in Denmark.

Admission requirements

In order to be accepted to one of our Bachelor programmes, you will have to fulfil the following admission requirements:

• You are eligible for admission to our BEng programmes if you hold qualifications comparable to a Danish qualifying examination. Please see if your qualifications are recognised as such at the Danish Agency for International Education website
• All programmes require high proficiency in English. We require all non-native English speaking students to have a minimum score of 213 of CBT TOEFL (79 IBT or 550 PBT) or 6.5 in the IELTS test. Your English language test result must be sent from the test centre to us - our institutional TOEFL code is 8459.
• For admission to programmes in Danish, you must also prove sufficient command of Danish by taking The Studytest of Danish as a Foreign Language (Studieprøven i dansk som andetsprog) or The Danish Test 2 (Danskprøve 2). Some programmes may even require that you have passed The Danish Test 3 (Danskprøve 3).
• Min. age 18 years

Application

Applicants for the Bachelor of Engineering Programmes must fill in a special application form that can be downloaded from the right hand menu of the web. Please fill in the information on the form before you print and sign it. You must be careful and write your name and home address correctly as IHK sends all of the necessary documents directly to your home address.

All documents, certifications and diplomas sent with your application form must be certified copies and include certified translation into English if the original is in another language than English.

Tuition Fee

EU/EEA citizens
All programmes are free of tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens as tuition fees are covered by the Danish state for these citizens. Find the list of EU/EEA countries here. 

Non EU/EEA citizens

All students with a non-EU/EEA citizenship must pay tuition fee for bachelor studies at Copenhagen University College of Engineering.

Exemptions:

• Non-EU/EEA citizens who:
  • have 'permanent opholdstilladelse' (a permanent residence permit)
  • have 'midlertidig opholdstilladelse med mulighed for varigt  ophold' (time-limited residence permit issued with a possibility of permanent residence in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland or Iceland) 
  • have status as refugees in Denmark 
  • have parents who have a permanent residence permit and work in Denmark
  • have a dual citizenship in an EU/EEC and a non-EU/EEC country

Tuition fee structure at Copenhagen University College of Engineering per year of bachelor programme studies

It is a prerequisite to have paid your tuition fee in due time before you can sign up for and participate in exams at IHK. Student who have not paid the tuition fee in due time are not allowed to sign up for or participate in any exam.

The European Qualifications Framework (EQF)

The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) acts as a translation device to make national qualifications more readable across Europe, promoting workers' and learners' mobility between countries and facilitating their lifelong learning.

Scholarship

For the Danish Ministry of Education the Copenhagen University College of Engineering (IHK) administers scholarships covering partly the required tuition fee for bachelor studies at our institution.

The Danish Ministry of Education’s Scholarship Scheme is reserved for highly qualified students already studying at Copenhagen University College of Engineering at one of our professional Bachelor of Engineering programmes. It is reserved for students without an EU / EEC citizenship, which means that EU students are not eligible for the scholarship.

You may apply for the scholarship as soon as you have passed sucessfully your first semester of the bachelor of egnineering studies at IHK

The deadline for applying for this Scholarship is 15 March 2012, and the application must be sent to IHK at the address mentioned in the application form. The outcome of the application for this Scholarship will be given in June.

The selection of candidates for the scholarship is based on the results you have obtained so far at IHK as a student - you are evaluated directly according to your GPA (General Point Average).

The nominated student(s) will receive information directly from IHK.

Accommodation

Degree students applying for a Bachelor of Engineering programme (or for the Foundation Course) at IHK must find housing by themselves. You can apply for accommodation through the central Danish Student Accommodation Organization: www.findbolig.nu or Kollegiernes kontor i København at www.kkik.dk

Use the English language version of the site and establish a user account. If you want to apply for at room in a student residence, the relevant organizations are KKIK, CIU, PFIU and RIU-Roskilde, as these organizations offer rooms in the Copenhagen area. It is free to register and apply for a room.

Residence permit in Denmark

Non EU/EEC citizens:

You must apply for a Residence Permit through the Danish representation (embassy or consulate) of your home country before you leave your home country. The application process may last for 2 - 3 months. You can only apply for Residence Permit after you have paid your tuition fee of minimum DKK 50,000 and received your Acceptance Letter for studies at IHK together with the legal documents you need for applying to the Danish representation in your country.

Insurance and medical care

All full degree students must register with the municipal registration office in the municipality where they live.  After a few weeks you will receive the yellow Health Insurance Card which is also your ID card while living in Denmark.

You must also arrange for a private insurance to cover liability, repatriation in case of severe illness and a coverage of your personal belongings during the stay in Denmark.
